Tourism Minister V Srinivas Goud on Thursday launched a boating facility at Koil Sagar in Mahabubnagar.

Mahabubnagar: Tourism Minister V Srinivas Goud said every effort is being made to make Koil Sagar a tourist spot by providing necessary amenities for tourists.

The minister launched a boating facility at Koil Sagar here on Thursday in the presence of Deverkadra MLA A Venkateshwar Reddy. Apart from the conventional boats, a speedboat was also introduced to the reservoir.

Addressing the occasion, the Minister said that despite the scenic locations and the possibility of launching a boating facility at Koil Sagar, previous governments have shelved tourism development works at the reservoir.

By next year, restaurants and chalets will also be built here for the convenience of tourists, he said.

As instructed by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, all measures have been taken to develop tourism services in Karivena and Uddandhapur Reservoirs under the Palamuru Rangareddy Lift irrigation scheme. Already, action plans were being prepared to undertake tourism projects, he said.

After the formation of Telangana, the popular temple of Ramappa won the recognition of the world heritage site and Pochampally obtained the award of the best tourist village of the UNWTO. This speaks volumes about the Chief Minister’s vision to develop tourism prospects in the state, the Minister said.

MP for Deverkadra, A Venkateshwar Reddy, said the introduction of boating facilities in Koil Sagar will now also provide recreation and rejuvenation facilities to residents of nearby constituencies.
